Pastor

Lester has pastored several churches over many years and has also spent time as an international evangelist.

His focus is on the Word of God, in particular the saving work of Jesus Christ and his weekly messages reflect this. You can hear all of Lester’s sermons on the Sunday Messages page.

Lester and his wife, Deanna, have four children, six grandchildren … and one dog.

Ministry to young families — Team Leader

Anita comes with many years of experience in ministry to kids, teens and families including kids’ church, bible studies for teens and participating in her church’s youth team. She has also run a women’s conference and bible study and served the church in many other capacities.

Anita has a background in community service, specifically community development and intensive case management for families and children. She holds an Advanced Diploma Community Services, a Diploma Case Management/Community Services, and is currently undertaking a degree in theology. Anita juggles her ministry and study with a busy homelife caring for four children.

Elder/Secretary

Dave comes from an engineering background in the power industry, working for many years in central Queensland. He has been involved with his local church serving in teaching Sunday school and elder roles, plus in camping with Scripture Union (SU).

Now retired and relocated to Maleny with his wife, Jo, he continues serving in the local church at Maleny Baptist and has completed a graduate diploma at Queensland Theological College. The couple has five adult children and three grandchildren.

Elder

Alex has served the church in various capacities over many decades including leading youth groups, men’s ministry, being a deacon and elder, church administrator and supervising extensive building renovations and upgrades.

In his early days, along with his wife, Robynne, he was an active volunteer with Open Air Campaigners (OAC).  Alex has also volunteered at Brisbane’s Christian radio station, 96five, first starting in technical areas and church deputation, then preparing and presenting news. For the past 30 years he has presented Sunday Celebration which runs 6 am – 9 am each Sunday. Alex & Robynne have two children and five grandchildren.

Treasurer

In a former life Jo worked in administration in legal practices and in local government.  After the children ‘flew the nest’ she took up patchwork and now in retirement is never far from her sewing machine.  

She considers it a joy and a privilege to attend Maleny Baptist Church and to serve in her role as Treasurer. Jo is married to Dave and has five adult children and three grandchildren.
